Maria Dismondy was an elementary school teacher who saw a need for a book that taught children to be comfortable with who they are and that bullying is not ok. After submitting her book to 90 publishers, Maria self-published her book and has gone on to publish 9 more and start her own traditional publishing company where she makes 7 figures while working part-time hours and raising 3 children. Maria discusses how parenting is an evolving journey and how delegating is something we all must learn how to get comfortable with.

Maria pitched her book, Spaghetti In A Hot Dog Bun to 90 publishers when she decided to go the self-publishing route and spend $13,000 of her own money. At the time, money was a factor for Maria and her husband, but her husband had a firm belief that this book needed to be published and seen by all. Maria has since published 9 more books and Spaghetti In A Hot Dog Bun has gone on to become a musical.
Parenting Is An Evolving Journey
Being a mom to 3 kids, ages 5, 7 and 10 has taught Maria a lot along the way. She shares how she has learned that parenting is an ever-evolving journey and as the kids get older, that time of being a hot-mess who could barely make it into the shower changes and not only are you able to fit in showers, but your time with your children changes focus. At one point it’s all about legos and Barbie dolls and now it’s about conversations and what’s going on at school.
Learning To Delegate
One of the biggest pieces of advice Maria has is to be ok with delegating things. Whether it’s childcare so you can focus on your work a few times a week to getting a house cleaner to having someone else upload your blog posts to your website. It’s more than ok to not do it all and to focus on the things you are best at.
