2019 Planning Workshop Whiskey & work podcast with kelsey murphy

Hello, World!

This is a jam-packed episode as I am hopped on matcha (I am trying to cut out coffee) and because I love planning! I get such a sense of inspiration and motivation and fulfillment from putting down on paper the places I want to go, the person that I want to be and how I want to show up. When I put it down on paper, I can create action steps around it and then I feel myself getting closer to this life that I want to be living.

So, when I think about planning, I get super excited, and that’s why I am going to share a couple of tips for planning your 2019.

What We’re Talking About

  • Tips for successfully planning your 2019

  • Takeaways from our 2019 Planning Workshop

Why I Like Planning in December

I like to take time in December and really clear out my brain, create some mental space so that I can be really present and in the moment with my family. The only way I can do that is when I know exactly what I am going to do Q1 of the new year.

Tips for Planning Your 2019

1. Plan for your work and your life – its so important you look at what you want your ENTIRE life to look like. This includes, work and relationships, you have to create a holistic plan first.

2. Create Q1 detailed goals – start big, start dreamy, then crunch down these goals! Once you have this you can reverse engineer them and create very clear bench marks.

3. Find a partner – this is someone that you can walk the path with who is doing the same things as you and understands the challenges you are facing.

Planning Workshop Takeaways

Build out a 3-year manifesto, go into detail about all the things you want! This is one of my favorite exercises as I started doing this when I just started my coaching practice. This is a living, breathing document which you can go in and tweak throughout the year. You can then go back and see what you wanted and how much you have achieved.

It’s important that you find a partner you can walk the path with, this is someone you will be able to connect with over things you are struggling with. If you’re walking alongside your old crew, they won’t be able to understand and empathize with what you’re going through.

Thank you so much for joining today, I’m over the moon, thrilled and appreciative to have you as part of this community.
