A chilled bottle of rosé, rich blue cheese with local honey, and a 15 ft outdoor patio lit by white lights. It was summer in Portland, and I sat across the table from one of my biggest idols, wondering two very important things…
1) What info was she going to give me that would change my life?
2) How the hell did I even get this wine date??
I got it because I emailed her…. one cold and rainy morning in San Diego, as I sat around dozens of notebook papers with my chicken scratch on them, trying to make sense of what I was creating… what I was trying to do with my life… slowly inching towards the 8am hour which would kick off a way too packed day with clients (meaning I inevitably would never finish this project).
But I was tired of “not finishing” things… tired of over analyzing everything I did, every decision I needed to make. I felt lost - not in a dramatic way - but more of a heavy, white fog that just hangs around your head, creating fuzzy confusion on where you want to go next kinda of way.
So I wrote one of my biggest idols an email… I crafted it, perfected it, and finally grew the courage to send it and it was titled “You Inspire Me.”
Long story short… it worked — and someone I admired from afar became one of my favorite people to havewine with, talk about life, businesses, love with.. and yes one of the the best mentors I could have asked for.
Oh, and that thing she told me that would change my life was...
You’re Going To Survive.
*That… and to finish my workbooks asap (which I did, and my clients love them, which makes me uber happy).
But mostly — to keep going, face the fear, listen to my gut… because I am going to survive.
So my question is… do you have a mentor, a community, a guide to help you through the fog and to your next step?
Because here’s the thing…
If you've analyzed, and analyzed, and over analyzed your job situation… it’s time to stop.
Whether you’re ready to quit or not… it’s time to move forward and not stay in the same spot anymore.
Because it’s draining you subconsciously (or maybe consciously) and it’s affecting your relationships, mood, and confidence.
You’ve got to at least know what’s out there… see new opportunities, meet new people, start moving forward again.
And maybe the only thing you need to help you get to that next step is a little guidance… so here’s how I can help.
